The final day of our trip! After a un-rushed morning which included another talk by our Mark Twain inpersonator. Our excursion after lunch took us to two places. First, we drove about 15 miles north to Airies Resort in a little town called Grafton, which happened to be the home of our excellent tour guide, who was a retired school teacher there. It featured a chair lift to the top of the hill where one finds a nice restaurant! Great views of the river. The weather is perfect! Even at this higher elevation, there is NO sign of fall foliage - very odd.
From there it was a short drive to the Grafton Winery. The owner gave us an informative talk about the winery, showing off all the new stainless steel equipment. Its a small producer and complelely different from Jake's Hazlett! Six samples in the "flight", didn't like any of them!
Our tour guide showed us around Grafton which had quite a few newer homes. Looked nice, but its in the middle of nowwhere!
We were back to the boat by 5:30, had dinner with the gang, said goodbye to our waiters and retired to our room to watch the Mariners. (who would win in 15 innings!!) We have to pack tonight and ready to leave by 7:30AM. Our bus takes us to the St Louis airport. We fly to Chicago and then on the Boise via United.
Government Shutdown continues. Will we have problems tomorrow?
